Whispering Angel 2020 Rosé Wine

The Vigneview

I’ve just opened a bottle of Whispering Angel rosé 2020 from the AOP Côtes de Provence in France. Produced by the well known Chateau d’Esclans located 25km northwest of Frejus in the Var department, which is in the heart of the beautiful Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, this rosé is something special. I had the privilege of visiting this region in 2019 and am dying to get back. I think a visit to Chateau d’Esclans will be on my ‘to-do’ list!

Vigneview and Whispering Angel Rosé 2020 Wine

This is such an elegant wine made from a blend of Grenache, Cinsault and Rolle (Vermentino) grapes.   The Grenache adds structure, flavour and alcohol to the blend.  While Cinsault adds notes of strawberry notes and Rolle (Vermentino) offers up zesty citrus notes.  A harmonious blend creating a truly luxurious rosé wine.

Aromas of ripe strawberries, cantaloupe and subtle sweet spice lure me in.  Flavours of strawberries and cream (the perfect Wimbledon pairing!!) further tempt my palate while notes of grapefruit add a vibrant acidity that adds to a memorable finish.

If you’re dreaming of escaping to Provence and the Cote d’Azur, then Whispering Angel Rosé is for you!  Or, as the current owner, Sacha Lichine, of the Chateau says, “In the Esclans Valley angels whisper. If you drink this wine, you might hear them… If you visit us, you might see them.” I’m totally there! Where’s my airplane ticket?

Food Pairing

Enjoy Whispering Angel 2020 Rosé wine on its own or paired with your favourite soft, fresh Chèvre goat’s cheese and some Provençale delights.

Cheers! x
