Before the Holy Trinity of Champagne (Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier) arrived on our shores, Seyval Blanc was one of the most widely planted wine grape varieties in England. This cool climate, hybrid variety is known for its vigour, winter hardiness and ability to ripen early. Seyval Blanc is usually higher in natural acidity and lower in sugar than other grape varieties, thus making it an ideal candidate for sparkling wine production. It creates wines that are refreshing and filled with variety of orchard fruit, citrus and melon flavours.

If you’re looking for a fantastic English bottle of bubbly made using the traditional method from Seyval Blanc, along with a bit of Pinot Noir, look not further than @stonyfieldwine Brut 2018. Christened as the most northerly vineyard to win the prestigious WineGB 2021 Trophy for Best Sparkling Blend for their 2017 Stonyfield Brut. The 2018 is just as impressive and hailed as one of the best vintages in England.

If you’re looking for an exciting British wine to try, then I highly recommend @biddendenvineyard Special Ortega 2019.

Biddenden was the first UK vineyard to plant Ortega back in the 1970s.

This particular wine is so 'special' because only 700 individually numbered bottles were produced using grapes from the original vines planted over 40 years ago.

With floral, citrus and orchard fruit aromas followed by a hint of freshly cut grass, this wine is delightful and dreamy! You’ll find yourself pouring another glass!!

Well, I can thank my in-laws for bringing this delicious bottle of @chateaumontredon Réserve Gigondas 2018 along on our annual ski trip to Norway. There's nothing better than a full-bodied, red wine that's brimming with fruits of the forest, fresh garrigue (local herbs) and savoury earthy notes to not only perfectly pair with your evening meal, but also the stunning alpine landscape!

If you're unfamiliar with the Gigondas region, then I'm sure you've heard of its more famous neighbour to the southwest, Châteauneuf-du-Pape, which is renowned for it's full-bodied, high alcohol, rather pricey wines that are made using up to 13 local varieties. Gigondas wines on the other hand tend to be more affordable, Grenache driven blends that are a bit more fresh fruit forward and rather easy to drink!
