The Vigneview Verdict
Stonyfield Brut, made in Northamptonshire, is an English sparkling wine to get excited about! Stonyfield is a family owned and operated one acre vineyard, located in Blisworth, Northamptonshire. The vineyard is planted half in Pinot Noir and the other half in Seyval Blanc vines. Christened as the most northerly vineyard to win the prestigious WineGB 2021 Trophy for Best Sparkling Blend for their 2017 Stonyfield Brut, I was excited to try their 2018, hailed as one of the best vintages in England.

I was immediately impressed by the vibrant effervescence and gentle springtime blossom aromas that wafted my way. Flavours of green apple, pear and a zingy grapefruit note refreshed my palate along with a pleasant depth of minerality. A toasted bread-like note added a complementary savoury complexity to the blend which lingered on an elegant finish. The Seyval Blanc adds the orchard fruit flavours along with refreshing citrus notes while the Pinot Noir provides a sense of depth and structure.
This is a delightful sparkling wine that will satisfy even the most discerning palates.
Food Pairing
I highly recommend pairing this bottle of Stonyfield Brut 2018 with Sinudon Hill goats cheese. Despite having a rich mousse-like texture, the cheese also offers fresh, zesty flavours on the palate. This will be your new favourite pairing!!
Cheers! x
