The Vigneview Verdict
Made according to the traditional method, using Ortega grapes harvested from 40 year old vines, this bottle of Biddenden Gribble Bridge Demi-Sec Ortega 2019 is truly something special. Along with an exuberant effervescence, your palate will enjoy a touch of sweetness, that adds a bit of depth, body and delight to the whole tasting experience.

Once opened, this Biddenden Gribble Bridge Demi-Sec Ortega offers an array of aromas and flavours. You’ll be delighted with the fresh elderflower blossom aromas along with fresh apple and pear notes. A bit of sweet spice and salinity pair beautifully with a touch of sugar on a smooth, savoury finish. This wine will convince you that there are exceptional demi-sec wines being made from grapes other than the Holy Trinity of Champagne (Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay)!!
Food Pairing
Enjoy this bottle of Biddenden Gribble Bridge Demi-Sec Ortega with a dessert that’s sugar level matches the level of sweetness in the wine. For example, an apple crumble isn’t as sugary sweet as other desserts and this demi-sec is slightly sweet, which offers a great pairing option. Additionally, the essence of fruit compliments the aromas and flavours found within the wine.
However, if you’re after a pairing that’s just a bit more special, then I highly recommend enjoying this demi-sec with fruit flavoured macarons. If you happen to be in the London area, then check out what Giselle Richardson has to offer. Her macarons are delicate, delicious and delightful. I chose the ‘British Fruit’ selection box, which included the following flavours Merigold Petal Apple, Rose Petal Rhubarb and Lavender Pear. The hint of sweetness in the macarons, along with the British fruit and floral flavours and crunchy texture add a sense of elegance to any occasion. This is the perfect pairing for Mother’s Day, Easter or Birthday celebration.

Cheers! x
